Christmas Carol.

Newbie Fan Here...
I'm twenty years old and though I'd seen Robin Hood long ago and found Alan's role to be one of the best (and only good) things about it, I've really only just recently discovered him through watching the Harry Potter movies. His portrayal of Snape is... mesmerizing. At any rate, I've since watched Love Actually, Nobel Son and Snow Cake, but I thought that since y'alls have probably been fans far longer than I, you'd know what films I "must" see him in. I'd love any suggestions you could give me. Also, if there are any photos that are known as "have to see if you're a true Rickman fan" pics I'd love to see them, too. Thanks! I'm not sure how many fans follow Stephen on twitter, but earlier today he read a tweet from a fan he was following that said his tweets were boring. He got upset over it, replied he obviously wasn't good enough and would stop tweeting, and then posted again saying he was "very low and depressed" and criticism makes it worse. I completely understand this and don't fault him for it (I've sailed the severe depression ship before). That said, I'm seriously upset at the amount of people saying he's doing it for attention and should get over it. My mother's bipolar, too, so I've seen how that affects your mood. It bothers me that someone who's known to have had instability issues before is being disregarded when it seems he's having trouble now. These issues aren't something to play around with. Secondly, it bothers me that people following him and are being followed back knowingly write potentially hurtful, and totally unnecessary things to someone they say they admire. I may think a friend's tweets, facebook status, lj posts, etc. are boring, but I'm not going to tell them that. If I'm in contact with them, it's because I want to know. I don't get why people read his stuff if they don't like it. It's easy enough to exit out of the page and forget it. To end the rambling, does anyone have any opinions? This genuinely upset me. Maybe I'm just too close to the mental health issue to see a point clearly? Hope this is okay to post. I'll delete if it isn't. Edit - Okay, I read his unencyclopedia entry and feel better. I just hope he doesn't drop twitter completely. He amuses me too much to drop it because some people have a big mouth. Another Edit - Mr. Fry just tweeted what amounts to a 'sorry'. Glad he's feeling better. <3 |
